Prince Harry says 'meaningful change never comes easily'

Prince Harry has said that ‘meaningful change never comes easily’, and has urged that when the ‘path becomes difficult, we must never give up.’

The duke made these remarks in his speech at Travalyst Executive Summit 2025 during the surprise trip to Shanghai on Monday.

According to a statement released on Meghan and Harry’s website, the duke said, “Although we’ve achieved significant milestones in our first five years, the journey ahead remains challenging.”

As founder of Travalyst—a non-profit coalition focused on driving sustainability across the travel sector—Harry also reaffirmed his commitment to working with partners across the region to deliver systemic, lasting change for people and planet.

“No single company can tackle these issues alone. Given the headwinds we face as a global community, we must work together to drive meaningful progress.”

Harry went on saying, “Now is the moment for the industry to reaffirm its commitment to being a force for good. Challenges will undoubtedly rise. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned in my life, it’s that meaningful change never comes easily.”

“The true measure of our commitment is how we respond when the path becomes difficult. We must never give up,” Archie and Lilibet doting father continued.

The duke went on to say, “I’ve had the privilege of working in conservation for more than 20 years and I’ve witnessed first-hand how tourism can be both a catalyst for positive change and a source of environmental and cultural strain.”

“I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together,” Prince Harry added.
