Rod Stewart says he will never be a Trump supporter despite having been close acquaintances and former neighbours.

The Scottish singer, 80, made the admission in a recent interview with Radio Times, where he recalled having known Trump "very, very well."

"I'm not a great fan of Trump," Stewart confessed. "I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house," the singer added as he recalled that he “live[d] literally half a mile away” from him in Florida.

“We're both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that. But he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well."

Stewart also noted that Trump had changed completely since he became president.

“He became another guy. Somebody I didn't know,” the musician added before being asked if he'd ever rekindle friendship with Trump again.

“No, I can't anymore,” he said before disapproving of Trump's controversial political alliances amid international conflicts.
