Queen Camilla will be quietly taking charge of an important role at the behest of King Charles as the royals would mark a key royal event for a fourth year after his ascension to the throne.
The King will be kicking off the centuries-old royal tradition on Saturday afternoon, where he will be joined by his wife and other senior working members of the family.
Charles’s actual birthday is in November last year but the Trooping the Colour celebrations are held for the monarch’s official birthday for over 260 years. The idea behind this was to keep the event in a much for feasible weather so the public and the royals could enjoy the festivities.
Following his cancer diagnosis, Camilla has actively stepped in to support her husband. According to a royal biographer, the Queen Consort will be playing a crucial role during the public event – a role that no one else can take on.
“Her presence reassures him. Despite all the trappings of majesty, it’s cold and lonely at the top, and it’s easy to see the comfort she provides him,” royal biographer Christopher Wilson said, noting that Camilla is a “calming force”.
Moreover, body language expert Darren Stanton explained that during public events, Charles is often seen “fidgeting” when Camilla isn’t by his side, which shows how dependent he is on her.
“When they are together, we see this genuine laughter shared between them with engaged eye contact, and this shows how they are on the same page emotionally,” Darren said.
“When he was a young Prince, we rarely saw him display a relaxed nature. Camilla brings that side out of him where he can be himself, let go and just enjoy his time as King.”
