The Duchess of Edinburgh shared a heartwarming moment with the Wales children during this year's Trooping the Colour celebrations, sharing close bond between the younger and older generations of the Royal Family.

As senior royals gathered inside Buckingham Palace ahead of the traditional balcony appearance, Sophie was photographed keeping a watchful eye on Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis as they looked out from the palace windows to observe the day's festivities.

The candid images captured a family atmosphere away from the crowds, with the Duchess appearing fully engaged with her great-niece and great-nephews while they watched the military spectacle unfold below.

As ever, Prince Louis proved one of the day's most expressive royal stars.

The eight-year-old appeared fascinated by the action outside, gazing intently through the windows as the celebrations continued.

Meanwhile, Prince George and Princess Charlotte maintained the composure and poise that have become hallmarks of their public appearances.

Sophie and Charlotte appeared almost perfectly coordinated in matching white outfits.

Standing side-by-side, the pair looked remarkably alike, with the young princess taking style inspiration from her elegant great-aunt.

Sophie later joined the royal procession, travelling by carriage alongside Sir Timothy Laurence, before reuniting with the wider Royal Family for the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.
