Taylor Swift became the youngest woman to be inducted in the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame this month, and Sombr performed two of her songs on the stage during the ceremony.
The 36-year-old pop superstar and the emerging hitmaker, 20, share a mutual admiration for each other and it was a huge honour for him to celebrate her musical legacy on the big night.
During his recent interview at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the back to friends singer revealed how the Eras Tour performer approached him herself.
Sombr told the host that he was surprised to get the opportunity and thought, “She asked me out of all the people she could’ve had to perform 2 songs to induct her in the songwriters’ hall of fame.”
The homewrecker singer then added, “I was like ‘Taylor, what songs do you want me to sing?’ She was like ‘no, you choose’, I was like seriously, so that really put the pressure on me, she has such a vast discography, so I went and picked 2 songs and suggested them to her, she was like ‘Perfect!’”
Sombr ended up choosing Cardigan and Dear John from Swift’s vast catalogue and won hearts during the ceremony.
