British actor Michael Byrne, who appeared in some of the world's biggest hits, has died at the age of 82.
The veteran star spent almost 60 years in the entertainment industry and became a familiar face to movie and TV audiences.
According to The Guardian, Byrne died on June 20 as his cause of death has not been made public.
Born in London in 1943, the legendary star started acting on stage in the early 1960s after joining Laurence Olivier's National Theatre Company.
He, however, performed in many well known plays and built very strong reputation before moving into films and television.
Over the years, he appeared in some major movies as many fans remember him as Colonel Ernst Vogel in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
He also appeared in Braveheart, Tomorrow Never Dies and Gangs of New York.
A new generation of viewers, moreover, got to know Byrne when he played the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1.
His television career was just as busy. He shared roles in Midsomer Murders, Coronation Street, Bodies, The Baby and many other shows.
The late star stayed active throughout his life and continued acting until recent years.
His final screen appearance came in 2023 with The Phoebus Files.
