Prince Harry reaffirms security stance on children in crucial statement

Prince Harry issued an urgent message and call for action as the royals call out negligence for children’s protection just weeks after returning from his trip to the UK.

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet’s parents have been strong advocates of ensuring all children are safe not only offline but also online, as they have held tech giants accountable for their ignorance to a grave matter.

Following a verdict passed in New Mexico, which fined Meta for nearly a billion dollars for harming children’s mental health in landmark trial, Harry responded to it with a clear statement.

“For years we’ve argued that big tech’s harm to children was a choice, not some inevitable side effect. This is not an accident. It is not a glitch,” Harry told People Magazine.

“What we’ve seen in the last 24 hours is what accountability looks like,” he stressed. “This is what happens when the law finally catches up to decisions made in boardrooms, product meetings, and algorithm reviews — decisions that put social media engagement ahead of safety.”

He continued, “The bar has moved, and every platform still choosing engagement over safety should take notice. Change cannot wait another day.”

Previously, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement via Archewell Philanthropies to praise the decision that was made by court.

The latest court orders dictate Meta to pay an additional $567 million, bringing the company’s total penalties in the case to $942 million after it was previously fined $375 million.
