Anne Hathaway has apparently decided the internet needs a biology lesson — delivered with emojis.
The 43-year-old actress fired back at online speculation about her pregnancy after photos from The End of Oak Street premiere sparked claims that her baby bump wasn't real.
Hathaway, who is expecting her third child with husband Adam Schulman, addressed the chatter Monday, with a playful Instagram caption.
“Fake hair, real bump,” she wrote alongside a video taking fans behind the scenes of her red-carpet appearance.
The comments began after Hathaway showed off her bare bump in a silk crop top and low-rise jeans at the film's Los Angeles premiere on August 9.
Some social media users weren't convinced, with one commenter writing, “I’m sorry but that looks fake,” while another claimed, “There’s body makeup on it.”
Hathaway clearly wasn't interested in letting the speculation ruin her night.
The actress announced her pregnancy in June, sharing a video in which she cradled her stomach before running out of frame. “x Baby, I’m yours x,” she captioned the post.
She later opened up about the surprise pregnancy on Late Night with Seth Meyers, joking that she and Schulman knew what they were doing but were still “so shocked it worked.”
“We were so shocked it went this way, so we’re calling this one our buzzer-beater,” Hathaway added with a laugh.
At the New York premiere of The Odyssey last month, she explained why the nickname carries deeper meaning.
“There’s always hope until there’s not, but when you get to a certain age, that hope looks like 1% to 2%,” she said.
She added, “We’re overjoyed because we just know from personal experience that not everybody gets this, and certainly not when you want it—sometimes not ever.”
For Hathaway, this “buzzer-beater” is clearly one blessing she isn't taking for granted.
