Backstreet Boys promise ‘special' New Year's eve surprise

The Backstreet Boys are giving fans a very good reason to make Las Vegas their New Year’s Eve destination.

The pop icons announced Monday, August 10, that they’re adding three more dates to their Into the Millennium residency at the Las Vegas Sphere — December 31 to January 2. And yes, the boys are promising something special for the big countdown.

“We’re definitely going to bring it,” AJ McLean, 48, told People magazine.

Howie Dorough is keeping the details under wraps, but hinted that fans can expect the unexpected.

“If you came to the last New Year’s concert, you know there’s a little special [something] that we try to implement... We haven’t exactly cooked up what that’s going to be yet, but it’s going to be something cool.”

One thing is confirmed: the New Year’s Eve show will start later than the group’s usual performances so the party can properly roll into midnight.

The Fan Club presale begins August 18, followed by the artist presale on August 19.

The residency launched in July 2025 and has already delivered 47 sold-out shows, with fans famously dressing in white to channel the cover of the group's 1999 album Millennium.

And despite decades of performing, the Backstreet Boys aren't taking the stage lightly. McLean previously revealed that stretching has officially become part of the pre-show routine.

“For a long stretch there, I would look at all of us in the dressing room, and maybe one of us might be stretching, but for the most part, we weren’t,” McLean said. “Now I’m pretty sure we’re all stretching before a show, before vocal warmups. About 90% of the show is full-out dancing. So we gotta be as limber as we can be.”

Apparently, the road to midnight requires both nostalgia and hamstrings.
