Balmoral Castle update saddens fans ahead of royal family's Summer reunion

A new announcement about Balmoral Castle has dashed Britons' and tourists' hopes of visiting the iconic estate as the royal family prepares for their summer tradition.

The Castle is located on the River Dee beneath the Lochnagar Mountain in Scotland. Generations of royals have headed to the Scottish estate in the late summer to fish, hike and simply spend time together out of the public eye.

Prince Harry and his family’s arrival at the castle has not been confirmed. The summer season at Balmoral runs until October, and Harry is expected to visit the UK in September.

Meanwhile, there is speculation that Andrew and his daughters may stay there, in keeping with royal tradition.

Reports that the British monarch has invited the former prince and his family have left royal fans upset. Many are concerned they do not want the disgraced royal to disturb the monarch's peaceful hours at this stage of his reign.

Balmoral has always been a place of attractions for royals as it was especially beloved by late Queen Elizabeth, who was known to leave for Scotland in late July and not return to London until October, with other members of the family joining her for periods of her stay.

The official website of the castle shared the notice of closure for the season on social media on Sunday, August 9.

The castle held decades of meaningful memories for the monarch, from Prince Philip‘s proposal in 1946 and their royal honeymoon to summers with her growing family.
