Christopher Rice from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, has appeared in court for the second time for the murder of his nine-year-old daughter, Minnie Merriman.

The 35-year-old marked his presence via video link at Forfar Sheriff Court in private, where he didn’t enter a plea and was fully committed for trial. He remains remanded in custody.

Minnie was found seriously injured shortly after midnight on August 3 at the Elliot Industrial Estate in Arbroath, Angus, while her family was camping in the area. She was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee alongside four other people but couldn't sustain her injuries.

Police have confirmed that there are no other possible suspects in connection.

In an emotional statement released via Police Scotland, Minnie’s family paid tribute to their “beloved, absolutely incredible, beautiful and brave Minnie Moo,” adding they were “devastated” by their loss and asked for privacy during this time.

Earlier, Minnie’s medical records were stolen. THS Tayside is currently investigating an alleged data breach into Minnie’s medical records, which occurred in a clinical area where staff access patients' information.

The date of Rice’s next court appearance is yet to be confirmed.
