DURBAN: South Africa stretched its first-innings lead over India to 163 with Robin Peterson´s thumping half-century after lunch on the fourth day of the second Test on Sunday.
Peterson hit nine fours and a switch-hit for six in his 61 off 52 balls to put South Africa well ahead at 497-8 when rain stopped play in the middle session just as Peterson fell.
Peterson shared a stroke-filled 110-run stand with Faf du Plessis (41 not out) as South Africa looked to score quickly and give itself a chance of a victory in Jacques Kallis´ final Test.
Kallis earlier made 115 in his last match and was hugged by teammates following what´s likely to be his final innings in test cricket. He also moved up to third on the list of all-time Test run-scorers. (AP)
