J.K. Rowling mocks critic with cheeky Dolly Parton reference

J.K. Rowling has responded to angry comments after sharing a tribute to Dolly Parton following the singer’s death at 80.

Rowling posted about Parton on X and praised her work with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

The programme gives books to children and helps them enjoy reading.

But her tribute soon got a lot of angry replies. Some people brought up the different views that Parton and Rowling have shared about LGBTQ+ people and transgender issues.

One person replied to Rowling, “It should have been you.”

Rowling shared the comment and wrote, “Top tips for wishing death on people in public, @b4byfirefly.”

She also answered other people who attacked her.

One person called Rowling a “f—ing monster” and said she and Parton had nothing in common.

Rowling replied, “Well, joke's on you, because neither of us want Jolene to take our man.”

Her reply was a reference to Parton’s famous song “Jolene”.

Another person claimed that Parton had supported Donald Trump.

Rowling pushed back strongly and wrote, “Oh, do f— off. At a conservative estimate, Dolly Parton was 100,000x the person you are.”

The comments have now brought more attention to Rowling’s tribute and her replies to the critics.
