BBC icon Dame Jenni Murray dies after horrifying crash

Dame Jenni Murray died days after a serious car crash in north London, with investigator now revealing what exactly happened.

The much loved BBC presenter was 75 as she was best known for Woman’s Hour on BBC Radio 4, where she spent 30 years talking about issues that mattered to women.

The crash happened on March 4 near Hampstead Heath.

The inquest heard that Dame Jenni was driving when she became dazzled by lights from another vehicle then crashed into two parked cars.

She, however, was taken to hospital after the crash and was found to have some broken ribs, a broken breastbone and a collapsed lung.

Doctors worked to treat her but her condition became worse over the following days.

The late media star later developed bronchopneumonia and by March 10, doctors decided to focus on keeping her comfortable.

Dame Jenni died peacefully two days later, on March 12.

The coroner said her death was caused by bronchopneumonia which was caused by injuries from the crash.

Police investigated the incident but later closed the case without taking further action.

Dame Jenni was made a Dame in 2011 for her contribution to broadcasting.

She also spent years raising awareness of breast cancer after her own diagnosis in 2006.
