GTA 6 gameplay reveal finally arrives after week of massive leaks

Rockstar Games is set to debut the first official gameplay footage of Grand Theft Auto VI today, following a tumultuous week of unauthorized leaks that the developer has publicly acknowledged as “heartbreaking.”

"26 minutes of GTA 6: An extended look" will be released exclusively on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET and will be published on YouTube after six hours. According to Netflix, the video footage is "100% captured from in-game footage on PlayStation 5" and represents "the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet."

The official release comes following an anonymous leaker or group known as “Cyberleek” releasing numerous gameplay clips over the past week, including footage of protagonist Jason exploring a strip club, riding a bicycle through a crowded beach, and a nearly five-minute prologue cutscene showing Lucia leaving prison. Rockstar unusually confirmed the leaked clips were authentic.

Before the unveiling, a cover story by Dazed magazine revealed many important facts about the game. Gamers will have options to build their muscles through workout or increase weight through overeating, and their health condition will be evident through their characters. There will be added options for choices which will determine the narrative and the dynamic between the heroes, Jason and Lucia.

Rockstar has reportedly doubled in size since developing Red Dead Redemption 2 and dedicated an entire studio solely to creating NPCs, focusing on the most immersive system in gaming history.

Staff were deployed in Miami for many years, working with real policemen, criminals, and gun dealers. Fifty street artists were hired to make in-game murals without relying on generative AI.

GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026, after two postponements announced publicly by the company.
