Russia fires nuclear-capable missile after CIA chief warns Moscow against NATO attack

Russia has tested a new nuclear-capable ballistic missile, with a range 6,700km, just days after the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) chief’s visit to Moscow.

The Russian defense ministry stated that the missile was fired from Arkhangelsk region in the country’s northwest and reached its designated target at the Kura test site in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka region. 

The newly tested missile’s range makes it capable of hitting targets in the U.S.

This comes just a few days after the CIA Chief John Ratcliffe visited Moscow to warn Russia against attacking any North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) member country following Russia’s threats to UK and France, whom Moscow warned to stop “playing with fire.”

Earlier, Russia had warned the UK that it could retaliate by attacking the British military facilities if Ukraine continued to carry out attacks inside Russia using British-made weapons.

Moscow has also declared the EU countries as adversaries. 

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said: “They are mobilising Europe's military capabilities and directing them against our country, whilst taking a direct part in hostilities against us.”

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the American side has shared information about a number of meetings that happened in Moscow. 

He has ordered the Ukrainian forces to increase the number of drone attacks on Russia to 1000 a day, a significant increase from 300 per day previously.
