Prince William appears to be getting attention of A-lister more than Meghan Markle as the future king received high-praise for his work.
The Prince of Wales, who strongly advocates on protecting the natural environment and finding solutions to alleviate the climate change on Earth, had previously criticised Star Trek alum William Shatner for the very controversial space mission funded by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The future King had said that the resources should have been used “trying to repair this planet, not trying to find the next place to go and live”.
However, that critique has not affected Shatner’s feelings about William and his Earthshot Prize, which he praises.
“I admire the work he’s doing and I just wish more people would do it,” the Captain Kirk actor told Hello!, noting that he had never reached out to the royal himself. Neither William had made direct contact.
Shatner expressed that, being the oldest man to go in space at 90, it had been a “life changing experience” but he returned with the “strongest feelings of guilt”. He added that space exploration can actually help finding ways to remove pollution from Earth.
The actor, who starred in Voice of the Planet TV series, himself is concerned about the environment has spoken about global warming.
“In my opinion, saying that global warming doesn’t exist is like saying, ‘I’m not going to die’. Global warming is happening,” he said. “There is no question that we are in an existential race.”
It would be interesting to see the collaboration happen, even with differing ideas, but with one goal to protect the Earth.
