Meghan Markle's mother Doria Ragland marked her 70th birthday on Wednesday, September 2, without grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as the Sussexes returned to the UK.

The 70-year-old, believed to be in California, received heartfelt birthday wishes from Harry, Meghan and their childen, who urged her to join them soon.

An insider close to the Sussexes reveald: "Archie and Lilibet sent their grandmother their best wishes on her big day.The kids really miss her company and want her by their side during their extended stay in the UK."

They are hoping she can join them soon as they say: "WE WANT YOU HERE."

The Sussexes make her birthday very special, as they're known to be very close as a family.

Meghan typically puts in a lot of effort for birthdays, for example sharing regular messages for her children and Prince Harry on her personal Instagram account.

Last year, Meghan shared a rare clip with her mother to mark her 69th birthday, sharing a boomerang-style clip kissing Doria on the cheek, captioned: "Happy birthday to my beautiful mom!"

The couple's children - Archie, seven, and Lili, five - have regularly been seen with their grandmother over the years.

Doria still plays an active role the little prince and princess' lives despite remaining in California as she's a big part of the kids' lives but she has her own life in California. She will of course continue to see the family frequently.
