Prince Harry, Meghan Markle break silence on Diana Award appearance: ‘Facts'

Prince Harry, who will be attending the WellChild awards ceremony this month, was anticipated to be leading a key event upon his return to Britain after six years.

The Duke of Sussex, along with his estranged brother Prince William, remains a patron of the Diana Award charity, which honours the achievements of young people. Since the rift broke out between the brothers, who were once very close, have been taking turns in leading the event.

It was reported by Daily Mail’s Charlotte Griffiths that this year was Harry’s turn and that Meghan would also attend the ceremony held at Raffles London.

A spokesperson for the Sussexes finally issued a response to Express UK about the claim, stressing that “accuracy matters” in such reports.

“Despite the Daily Mail’s reporting to the contrary, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are not scheduled to attend a Diana Award event at Raffles Hotel, OWO London, on September 18,” the rep said. “Facts matter. Accuracy matters. Apparently, neither made the guest list for this particular story.”

A source close to Harry also told the outlet that the Duke of Sussex is “considering writing a letter or appearing in a video message instead, despite his close proximity to the event”.

The Sussexes are reportedly residing in a private residence in Cotswold and their two children will be starting school this week.

The update also comes as it was believed that Kensington Palace will have a lot of people “uneasy” if Meghan is coming. Meanwhile, Prince William and Princess Catherine have remained silent on the matter as events unfold.
