Former pop star Gary Glitter to stand trial over child abuse allegations in 2027
The allegations of child abuse against Glitter were first reported to the Metropolitan Police in January 2025

Gary Glitter, a former pop star of the early 70s, has pleaded not guilty to the child sexual abuse charges at a London court on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The 82-year-old rock star, whose real name is Paul Gadd, entered his plea through video link from HMP Channing Wood at Southwark Crown Court.
Glitter has been charged on four counts of sexually assaulting a minor over four decades ago.
Glitter is facing total eight allegations of sexual abuse against a minor, including four counts of indecent assault, two of indecency with a child, and two of sexual activity with a girl under 13, allegedly committed between 1978 and 1981.
According to the Metropolitan Police the allegations were first reported to the service in January 2025.
Tony Baumgartner, the judge at Southwark Crown Court adjourned the hearing for a three week trial that is set to begin on November 22, 2027.
During his court appearance, Glitter, 82, appeared on the court monitor from a prison in Devon, England, and wearing a grey jacket and hat, confirmed his identity before a clerk outlined the charges and asked for his pleas.
Glitter was a leading name in the glam rock era that was a buzzing thing in the early 1970s and also included band members like David Bowie and T. Rex.
