President Donald Trump’s recent weight gain has sparked concern among doctors, who warn that additional pounds could pose major health risks for the 80-year-old commander-in-chief.
As per reports, Trump has gained around 20 to 23 pounds since his last presidential campaign, a development that has caught the attention of medical professionals who monitor the president’s health.
Doctors who have studied all the available literature have shown concern regarding the potential risk factors posed by Trump’s age, weight, and some symptoms, such as bruises on his hands, swelling in his ankles, and being overly drowsy. All these symptoms, combined with excessive weight, might suggest underlying problems related to the heart or metabolism.
The weight gain has been observed in recent pictures of the president that show him to be heavier than he was during the campaign. Although no reports have been officially presented to the public, the president himself and his assistants have confirmed this fact.
Medical experts stressed that sudden or significant weight gain in older adults can be a warning sign for various health conditions, including heart disease, hypertension, type II diabetes, joint and mobility issues, sleep apnea, and increased stroke risk.
The president’s reported height and weight have been a topic of public discussion throughout his time in office, with previous medical evaluations drawing scepticism from some medical professionals.
The administration has asserted that Trump receives regular medical checkups and remains in good health overall.
