Shilo Sanders' creditor collapses in courtroom during bankruptcy trial: what we know

The former school security guard who is owed $12 million from Deion Sanders’ son Shilo collapsed during a courtroom hearing.

John Darjean, who owed $12 million to Shilo Sanders, after completing recording his statements in Shilo Sanders’ bankruptcy trial on Thursday, September 3.

The medics shifted him to hospital, and he was later discharged from the hospital in the day.

However, Darjean, 50, did not show up to the trial after being hospitalised.

Sanders is facing a trial in a bankruptcy trial to escape the $11.89 million he owes Darjean, a debt arising from a 2015 incident at Sanders’ school in Dallas.

Darjean recorded his testimony for over two hours in the bankruptcy trial against Sanders on Day 4 of the bankruptcy trial.

The day also saw a witness statement who backfired on Sanders, as well as medical reports from the incident that day.

The judge Michael Romero also evicted Deion Sanders from court appearance for the final day of the trial, resuming today, Friday, September 4.

This comes a day after Colorado football coach debuted the season at Georgia Tech, as his testimony was ruled unnecessary by the court following Day 4.

For context, Darjean is the main plaintiff and creditor in the Shilo Sanders bankruptcy trial who sued the latter in 2016.

The lawsuit stemmed from an incident in 2015, when John Darjean, a former security guard at Shilo’s school, alleged Shilo caused injuries to Darjean when he tried to seize Shilo’s phone.

Darjean ultimately won a default judgement of $11.89 million after Shilo failed to appear before the court at trial.

Shilo Sanders declared bankruptcy in 2023 with more than $11 million in debt.

Sanders, 26, finished his collegiate football career after graduation in 2024.

He was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2025 after he wasn't drafted by any NFL franchise in April 2025.
