Prince William and Anne bring touch of comfort to Norway's royals: Watch

Following the solemn funeral procession through Oslo and the royal family’s appearance on the balcony, members of the British monarchy greeted Norway’s grieving royals to pay their respects to the late King Harald V.

Prince William, who attended on behalf of King Charles, shared a tender greeting with Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra, Norway’s future queen. 

Princess Anne also had a personal connection to the new Norwegian monarch. Dressed in a black blazer and scarf, the Princess Royal offered words of comfort to her godson, King Haakon, before greeting him with kisses on both cheeks.

Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra appeared to sense that her younger brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, 20, was struggling to contain his emotions. 

She first glanced around before reaching over and placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

Body language expert Judi James described the gesture as a quiet display of “sibling empathy”, suggesting Ingrid was letting her brother know there was no need to hide what he was feeling.

Sverre Magnus answered with a small, appreciative smile, before his sister gently shifted his attention towards the order of service.
