Princess Ingrid Alexandra honours King Harald with treasured pendant from Queen

Crown Princess Ingrid Alexandra paid a deeply personal tribute to her grandfather, King Harald V, as she joined Norway’s royal family in Oslo to say their final goodbye on 9 September.

The 22-year-old future queen arrived for the sombre funeral in a classic black ensemble, wearing a formal coat with black opaque tights and understated ballet flats.

Her hair was swept neatly into a bun and finished with a traditional mourning veil, creating an elegant yet restrained look for the emotional occasion.

Ingrid Alexandra wore a diamond, ruby and pearl pendant given to her as a christening present by her grandmother, Queen Sonja.

Royal Fashion Blog highlighted the meaningful detail in a post on Instagram, drawing attention to the pendant as one of the most touching elements of the Crown Princess’s funeral attire.

Born in 2004, she is the eldest child of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit and stands second in the line of succession to the Norwegian throne, behind her father.

King Harald’s reign came to an end following his death at the age of 89.

His passing has also placed Ingrid Alexandra’s father, King Haakon, at the centre of a new era for Norway’s monarchy.
