The Norwegian Palace has released a statement, confirming the princess's death.
Teh statement said: "His Majesty the King has received with great sorrow the news that Princess Astrid has passed away.
It added: "The Princess passed away today, Friday, 11 September, at the age of 94."
Prince William represented King Charles at the funeral as longstanding royal convention prevents the reigning sovereign from attending the funerals of fellow heads of state.
