Prince William and Kate follow Windsor Castle meeting with hands-on day on Bute

The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron of the Duchy of Cornwall, held a meeting at Windsor Castle with representatives from the Duchy of Cornwall and the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.

Later, the couple travelled to the Isle of Bute, where their packed schedule took a more hands-on turn at picturesque Ettrick Bay.

Kate appeared in particularly high spirits as she climbed aboard a tractor during the beach visit, smiling as she joined local volunteers in helping to clear litter from the shoreline.

The couple met members of Beachwatch Bute, including the organisation's beach ranger and local volunteers who regularly work to protect the island's coastline. 

Sharing photographs from the visit on Instagram, they wrote: "Caring for Bute’s coastline at beautiful Ettrick Bay "

They added: "Joining Beachwatch Bute’s beach ranger and local volunteers working together to protect the island’s coastline. 

For almost 30 years, community action has helped keep Bute’s beaches clean and accessible while inspiring the next generation to care for the natural environment."

The Princess got involved with photographs capturing her smiling from the driver's seat of the tractor before she and William joined the litter-picking effort along the beach.

Kate and William also met the players, young people and volunteers keeping shinty alive on the island, learning more about a sport deeply rooted in Scotland's heritage.
