Prince William quietly makes sacrifice for destined role: ‘It was a dream'

The Prince of Wales has candidly spoken about the changes he will be bringing to the monarchy once he takes throne, but he has kept quiet about a dream he once harboured.

Prince William, who is the next in line of succession, had been undergoing training by the Palace since the age of 13, as per royal tradition. He was very well-aware of the role he had to play in the future, but that didn’t seem to stop him imaging a world where he had a choice.

According to a childhood friend of William’s, the young prince had held plans of his own even if he knew that his family would not let him pursue it.

Before joining Eton College, William studied at Ludgrove School in Berkshire with actor and comedian Humphrey Ker.

Humphrey shared in one of his gigs that once in school, the students were asked to write about their future aspirations.

A childhood friend of Prince William once disclosed how the future monarch had his classmates roaring with laughter over his unusual career ambitions.

“Some people said fighter pilot, Arsenal striker, this and that, the usual,” Humphrey told The Telegraph.

“William said, ‘I want to be a policeman’. And everyone burst out laughing, because of course he wasn’t going to be a policeman, we all knew everything that was going to happen in his life – he was going to be king.”
