Charles Spencer declares side in Prince William vs Prince Harry rift

Charles Spencer clearly addressed where he stands when it comes to his two nephews, who have been estranged for more than four years over a feud.

Princess Diana’s younger brother, who had written a bombshell memoir about his late sister, has reportedly held a close relationship with both Prince William and Prince Harry despite the friction between the royals and the Sussexes.

The Earl of Spencer has often been regarded to take Harry’s side, considering that the Duke of Sussex has visited Althorp estate often and even stayed over during his brief trips to the UK in the past years.

In an interview with BBC, Spencer declared that he is on the side of his “deceased sister’s sons” and he will not choose any camp over another.

He explained that his role is of a “benign figure” in the lives of his nephews.

The response had been to what Harry has said about the intense scrutiny the Duke and Duchess of Sussex face in the media. Spencer noted that his late sister had been “very, very sensitive” to criticism and he saw the “tears of despair” Diana had shed.

It would be “really beholden on people to learn from Diana’s example”.

He added, “I’m not here to speak for Harry and Meghan, but for anyone who's being destroyed in this way daily, it must be such a cancerous influence in their life.”
