Prince Harry meets inspirational WellChild winners ahead of emotional awards night

Prince Harry shared a touching moment with two of this year’s WellChild Award winners when he met young stars Margot and Will ahead of the annual ceremony in London.

The Duke of Sussex, who has served as WellChild’s Patron for 18 years, arrived at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on Monday evening for the 2026 awards, which celebrate the courage and achievements of seriously ill children and the families and professionals who support them.

Will appeared thrilled to meet the Duke, creating a sweet moment during the pre-ceremony reception.

Six-year-old Margot is this year's Inspirational Child winner for ages four to six. 

After suffering a catastrophic brain bleed and stroke when she was just 20 months old, she has faced a range of complex medical challenges while continuing to work towards greater independence.

WellChild describes her as a resilient youngster with a love of performing, horse riding and making people laugh.

Ten-year-old Will, meanwhile, has been recognised in the seven-to-11 category. 

A passionate wheelchair rugby player, swimmer and karate enthusiast, he has continued pursuing his sporting ambitions while living with several complex medical conditions. 

He has also used his experiences to encourage greater awareness of disability sport.
