King Charles' cousin Ivar Mountbatten jokes about sleep after Ella's wedding

Lord Ivar Mountbatten has opened up about his daughter Ella Mountbatten’s wedding day, admitting he is only now catching up on sleep after what has been a whirlwind few weeks for the family.

Taking to Instagram, Lord Ivar shared a series of wedding memories and reflected on the moment he walked Ella down the aisle to marry Fergus Wright earlier this month.

“I can’t believe it’s been well over a week since I walked my darling daughter Ella down the aisle to a new and exciting future with her fabulous husband Fergus Wright,” he wrote.

Describing the celebrations as “fun and emotional”, Lord Ivar joked that he was rather relieved the festivities were finally over after an exceptionally busy month.

“Boy, I’m glad it’s all over; the last month has been non stop,” he added, before revealing that he was “finally just catching up on my sleep now.”

The couple exchanged vows at St Luke’s Church in West Sussex, before continuing the celebrations with a reception at Great Trippetts Farm.

She is a goddaughter of the Duke of Edinburgh, while her younger sister, Alexandra Mountbatten, is a goddaughter of the Duchess of Edinburgh. Prince Edward and Sophie were among the guests at the church ceremony.

The bride also has a connection to the late Prince Philip. Ella's father is a second cousin of King Charles.
