Prince Harry's witty comeback after AI interrupts his major speech

Prince Harry made a return to New York on Tuesday for a major speech focused on one of the biggest concerns facing children online - the growing influence of artificial intelligence.

The Duke of Sussex appeared at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting on 23 September, where he took part in the Getting Disruption Right session and spoke about the risks AI could pose to young people and their families.

As Harry delivered his remarks, an unexpected technical problem left him unable to continue reading from the teleprompter. 

He had been warning about the urgency of protecting children online, telling the audience: “The damage was already done to a generation of children and parents. We do not have years for what comes next.”

He then paused for a moment before adding: “And that’s it.”

Harry appeared unsure of what to do next as he paced across the stage, with the teleprompter no longer displaying his speech. Eventually, he placed his microphone down and walked off stage.

A spokesperson for the Duke later confirmed that the interruption was caused by a fault with the teleprompter.

Harry was back on stage later to finish his address, making light of the unusual interruption as he told the audience: “Hello again. 

So AI got into my speech, so I was asked to come out and finish it. Interesting to see what it was so concerned about.”
