Charles Spencer's legal trouble not over as lawyers uncover new problems

Charles Spencer had delivered a damaging blow to the royal family but it did not come without consequence as he finds himself in a fresh nightmare.

The younger brother of Princess Diana, released on Tuesday, which contains retelling of the events surrounding the beloved public figure, her marriage to the then-Prince Charles, her death and everything that followed.

However, before the momentum for the book could be picked up, the Earl suffered a legal blow after Piers Morgan called out an error in facts. The Uncensored host had threatened a legal action after the Earl mixed up the dates for his employment at The Sun and The Mirror.

Spencer apologised for the mistake but maintained that his conversation with Piers was accurate. Despite it, the publisher is not happy with the situation.

“This has become much bigger than Piers,” a publishing source told Rob Shuter. “The question everyone is asking is: Who fact-checked this? At best, this is deeply embarrassing. At worst, it could become a legal nightmare.”

The legal scrutiny is now getting intensified with the error as lawyers are digging into the material.

“Once one significant claim is challenged, you cannot simply assume everything else is fine,” the source explained. “Every major allegation now has to be looked at again, line by line.”

sources say the publisher is considering every possible scenario — including whether changes, disclaimers or more drastic action could become necessary.

“Nobody wants to pull a book from shelves or online, but that possibility has to be discussed if serious problems are uncovered,” the insider said. “The terrifying question now is: What else might need correcting?”
