Prince Harry recalls Diana's tragic death in speech after Spencer claims

Prince Harry is apparently unstoppable during his headline-making US trip, as back home the royal family has been facing Earl Spencer's shocking claims with the release of his new book, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister.

On September 23, the Duke of Sussex made an appearance at the Skift Global Forum at the North Javits Centre.

He delivered a keynote speech at the event, full of travel CEOs and innovators, shedding light on the "strategies that will shape the industry’s next chapter."

Harry mentioned two important figures in his life. His late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana, while highlighting the importance of conservation and thinking about the well-being of the global community.

He said, "I’ve been lucky enough to travel to, I think, probably all corners of the world, sent by my grandmother"; however, the same travelling opened his eyes. 

He mentioned an emotional encounter he had with a kid when he was visiting the Caribbean almost 10 years ago.

"He came up to me and said, 'You know, because of your country, my country suffers.' And it really sat with me then; I thought, wow, that’s pretty profound," Harry shared.

Later, in his address, the Duke recalled his trip to Botswana soon after his mother, Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997. 

He shared, "I first travelled there shortly after my mother’s death, and over the years I’ve continued to understand the Okavango not simply as an extraordinary place to visit, but as a living system that sustains wildlife, communities and livelihoods.

"That description captures something that we can easily forget when we talk about destinations as an industry. These places are not simply somewhere to travel to. They are home."
