Bangkok man sentenced over viral jet ski stunt on flooded streets: details inside

Bangkok authorities have arrested a man seen jet skiing on the city's water-logged streets.

Sorn Keadsiri, 27, was spotted riding a jet ski along the submerged Phetchaburi Road on Sunday, September 27, splashing water across pavements, pedestrian bridge steps and roadside walls.

A video of the stunt, widely shared on Thailand’s social media, highlights Keadsiri speeding up and turning sharply as a friend who filmed his stunts could be heard telling him, “Nice…nice. Go straight. Go straight all the way,” the Bangkok Post reported.

He himself had posted the footage of his stunts on his Facebook account, captioning it, “BKK DRIFT”.

After onlookers and nearby residents lodged complaints, police in the capital’s Makkason area arrested Keadsiri, along with his friend who shot his stunts on Sunday night.

Keadsiri appeared before the Bangkok North Municipal Court, where he was sentenced to one month in prison and a fine of 10,000 baht (£220) on Monday, September 28.

After he pleaded guilty, the sentence was reduced to 15 days and 5,000 baht (£110).

The court suspended the prison sentence for a year and placed him on probation for a year, while police authorities have asked the court to forfeit his jet ski.
