How did Jorge Kahwagi die? Cause of death revealed

Jorge Kahwagi Macari, the Mexican lawyer, businessman, politician, and professional boxer, died Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in Mexico City at age 58.

The cause of death was reported to be a cerebral haemorrhage. Earlier, he also faced serious health issues, including a perforated stomach ulcer in 2019 that left him in an induced coma for nearly two months.

He was born on May 28, 1968, and built one of Mexico’s most unusual public careers. He served as a federal deputy for the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM) and later with New Alliance, but became widely known for his boxing career between 2001 and 2015.

He retired undefeated with 12 wins, all by knockout.

Kahwagi also became part of “Big Brother VIP 3” in 2004 and was linked romantically to several celebrities, most notably actress Marlene Favela, to whom he was briefly engaged.

Tributes poured in from figures such as Roberto Palazuelos, Leonardo Gracía and Julio César Chàvez.

In his final years, he kept a low profile, reportedly living in Tulum, Quintana Roo, where he focused on his business and legal practice. His death came just months after the passing of his father, Jorge Kahwagi Gastine, in March 2026.
