KARACHI: Former Test batsman Basit Ali inspected the facilities at the National Stadium Karachi (NSK) on Monday ahead of launching training and coaching plans for young cricketers.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Basit Ali as the cricket consultant for Zone I.
The Zone I consist of Karachi, Hyderabad, Dera Murad Jamali and Larkana regions.
Basit, with Muhammad Arshad (senior manager National Stadium) visited gymnasium, nets and the academy building to finalize preparations for his assignment.
“The main aim and my objective is to prepare quality young cricketers from my Zone”, 19 Tests and 50 ODIs star Basit remarked.
Basit will also be responsible for regional cricket academies programmes, talent hunt schemes monitoring club and school cricket in consultation with respective regional presidents.
A dashing batsman of his times Basit Ali, who is also chief coach of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) and has just returned from Multan after his side won Pakistan’s premier departmental event, The President s Trophy on Saturday.
Basit will also prepare various development programmes and an annual calendar for respective regional teams at first class, U 19 and U 16 levels. (APP)
