PM Gilani for ties with US on equal basis

ISLAMABAD: Acknowledging the significance of relations with the US on Tuesday, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan was looking for ties with the US on an equal basis, Geo News reported Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet (DCC), the Premier read out the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) which were recently adopted by the joint sitting of the Parliament.

"Pak-US relations are all set to take a new course," Gilani said, adding Pakistan would put its sovereignty above all other considerations in its relations with the US.

He said the Parliament had categorically made its point that there would be a partnership with the US but not at the cost of country's interest.
