Mir regains control of social media account, apologizes to followers for inconvenience

ISLAMABAD: Late on Tuesday night senior Pakistani journalist, columnist and Geo News' leading talk show host Hamid Mir regained control of his official twitter account and apologized to his 1.67 million followers for the inconvenience caused due to the hack.

He thanked twitter support for their help in regaining control of the account as well.

On Tuesday a little after 6:30PM Hamid Mir’s official verified twitter account was compromised and multiple tweets were posted by the hackers who gained access to his twitter and his email account.

It is common knowledge that Hamid Mir is away on annual leave and for the same reason has not been on the Geo News screen to host his show Capital Talk.

Director News Geo News Rana Jawad confirmed that that Mir’s account had been compromised and that his mobile phones had also been blocked.

While the tweets posted by the hacker have been removed, multiple screenshots are still circulating the internet. We request Hamid Mir’s followers not to take any of the tweets posted after 6:30PM on Tuesday the 8th of December up till 03:30AM on Wednesday the 9th of December - when Hamid Mir regained control of his account - to be information shared or posted by Hamid Mir.
