Women’s World T20: Pakistan go down fighting against India
SYLHET: Pakistan were defeated by India in an interesting day and night match at the Women’s World Twenty20 here at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Wednesday.

Chasing 107, Pakistan women’s team made 100 for nine in the 20 overs and were beaten by six runs in the World T20-2016 Qualification Play-Off.

Nahida Khan made 26 while Nida Dar remained not out on 24. Skipper Sana Mir with 11 runs was the only other batswoman to get into the double figures.

The most successful bowler for India was Soniya Dabir who captured three wickets for 14 runs while Sravanthi Naidu and Poonam Yadav claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, India winning the toss batted first and made 106 runs for seven wickets with only three top-order batswomen in the double figures.

Captain Mithali Raj top scored with 39, followed by Smriti Mandhana (22) and Poonam Raut (17).

Pakistan pacers Sania Khan and Asmavia Iqbal took three wickets for 15 runs and two for 16, respectively.
