ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has termed the petrol crisis as a conspiracy against the PML-N government.
The finance minister’s statement comes as the petrol crisis entered day seven in Punjab with long queues being witnessed at the few stations which were open.
Dar said action would be taken against those companies which had not kept adequate supplies of petrol. The finance minister dispelled the impression that the petrol crisis was linked to an inadequate supply of funds.
Dar admitted that there had been mismanagement and added that Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was leading an investigation to determine who is behind the crisis.
The minister further said that Pakistan State Oil (PSO) had not made any contact with the Finance Minister thus far.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is chairing a meeting which is being attended by Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other high-ranking officials.
The prime minister has stressed that those responsible for this crisis will not be spared.
