ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Monday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has a golden opportunity to go and file a lawsuit against Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Addressing a press conference in reaction to Imran Khan’s statement urging the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to scrutinize the Sharif family's assets in light of the Panama Papers, Pervaiz Rashid said both sons of Nawaz Sharif have been residing in London, thus, Imran Khan instead of leveling allegations should go there to file a case against them.
“And if he returns with dignity, I will myself go to the airport to garland him,” he added.
He said Imran Khan maintain double standards. “Till today he hasn’t informed the world as to how he bought property in Bani Gala,” he said.
Pervaiz Rashid said Imran Khan himself lives in a house made up of glass and pelts others’ with stones, adding, Imran Khan’s statements ‘force us to come out and hold a mirror to him’.
Earlier today, Imran Khan on Monday urged the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to launch a probe into the disclosures made in media reports based on Panama leaks in connection with the assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family.
Imran Khan accused Nawaz Sharif and his family of siphoning off funds from mega projects like Metro train and shifting the same to overseas destinations through unlawful modes of transfer.
He said it is NAB’s responsibility to investigate into fraud, thus, if the Bureau wants to protect its integrity it will have to investigate the assets of Nawaz Sharif’s family.
Imran Khan questioned as to how Nawaz Sharif’s family managed to shift the money abroad. “This was done through money laundering which is a crime,” he added.
Imran Khan said if NAB fails to take action in this ‘fraud’ it should be closed down.
