ISLAMABAD: PTI chairman Imran Khan while reacting to PML-N protest outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly has said that the Nawaz-league wants to prevent the Raiwind march through its cheap tactics.

Workers and supporters of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday held a protest demonstration outside the KP Assembly against a march on Raiwind announced by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), a few days ago.

The protesters had said that Raiwind was their political center and if anyone had any ill intentions towards it then they would face dire consequences.

They threatened of surrounding Bani Gala and Zaman Park (Imran Khan’s residences in Islamabad and Lahore, respectively), if the PTI went ahead with the march on Raiwind, where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family live.

In his message on Twitter, Khan strongly reacted to the demonstration held outside KP Assembly.

"Shameful behaviour by PML-N goons trying to stop PTI from Raiwind march by hooliganism at KP Assembly," Imran wrote in his tweet, adding that the ruling party holds a history of such behaviour.

"During Leghari presidency, PML-N marched on to Leghari home in Choti Zareen; During PPP rule, PML-N tried to climb wall(s) of presidency," he recounted. "Most shameful was PML-N's attack on SC of Pak. Now they have repeated this hooliganism on KP Assembly."

Imran Khan said that the PTI's march on Raiwind is a peaceful protest and its constitutional right. "We are not marching on to anyone's home".

He said that he was more determined than ever after today's hooliganism by the PML-N and that his party would not be deterred by such threats.

The PTI chief had initially announced to march on Raiwind on September 24, however, backtracked on staging a sit-in outside the PM's residence.

Imran has now announced to hold a rally in Raiwind instead of laying siege to the premier's home.

The final date for the protest march is yet to be given as it is being rescheduled on account of PM Sharif's absence due to a visit out of country.

Sharif is due to leave for US on September 16 to address the United Nations (UN) General Assembly. He is expected to stay in US for a week.
