Ae Dil Hai Mushkil to release... but with conditions attached

The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil team has given in to extremists. After a meeting held by the Maharashthra Chief Minister with filmmaker Karan Johar and MNS Chief Raj Thackeray it was decided that the movie will release on October 28, but with conditions attached.

Mukesh Bhatt president of the Film and Television Producers Guild of India also attended the meeting held on Saturday at the chief minister’s residence. Speaking to the media after the meeting he said that they had assured the government that he will not work with Pakistani artists any more, the Times of India reported.

Bhatt added that Karan Johar had also offered to run a slate honouring Indian soldiers killed in the Uri Attack before the movie. Meanwhile the producers’ association will also contribute to the Army Fund.

Raj Thackeray called the decision which came in the meeting a win-win situation for him. He said that each film which has cast a Pakistani artist will contribute Rs 50 million to the Army welfare fund. Also filmmakers will give a written letter confirming that they would no more cast Pakistani artists.

The movie stirred controversy as it casts Pakistan heartthrob Fawad Khan. Earlier, MNS activists had threatened to vandalize cinemas which would show the movie.
