Pakistan summons Indian deputy high commissioner over ceasefire violation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan summoned India’s Deputy High Commission J P Singh on Tuesday over ceasefire violation along the Line of Control, in which a woman was killed.

South Asia and SAARC Director General Dr Faisal called the Indian deputy high commissioner and handed him the protest statement.

According to the statement, unprovoked Indian firing in the area between Khuiratta and Kerala sector killed a 35-year-old woman Muneera Bibi, while Fareena Bibi was injured.

So far in 2017, the Indian forces have violated the ceasefire and working boundary agreements over 600 times, killing 25 civilians and injuring 110 others, the statement reads.

In 2016, the LoC agreement was violated 386 times, it adds.

The statement reads India should not deliberately kill civilians by opening fire along the LoC.
