ISLAMABAD: A court extended on Friday the bail granted to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) deputy chairman Imtiaz Tajwar in a corruption case until September 20.

Tajwar was present in the NAB meeting on Thursday which finalised the references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his family members and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

As the references were being submitted in the Islamabad Accountability Court, Tajwar attempted to slip in for his bail plea extension in the court of special judge central to avoid the media.

However, when reporters and cameramen spotted him and attempted to approach him for comment, Tajwar's security detail manhandled them.

The Federal Investigation Agency registered a corruption case against Tajwar in March this year, who remained the head of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) in an acting capacity for a year in 2014-2015.

Tajwar is accused of embezzling Rs6 million while at Nadra.

However, Tajwar has denied all charges saying he is being politically victimised.
