LONDON: A 'special' meeting between former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to be held in London today.

Sources said that Nawaz’s future political strategy and the issue of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president is expected to be discussed in the meeting.

Shehbaz will also apprise Nawaz about the ground realities regarding the political situation in Pakistan as well as discuss the date of Nawaz’s return to the country.

Sources said Shehbaz will also apprise Nawaz of his meetings prior to his departure for London, including with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and disgruntled party leader Chaudhry Nisar.

Shehbaz arrived in London, his second trip this month, last night and held a detailed meeting with Nawaz at the latter's son's residence.

Nawaz has been residing in London since August 30 to spend time with his wife, Kulsoom Nawaz, who is undergoing treatment for lymphoma.

The Nawaz family, presently in London, is wanted by the Islamabad Accountability Court which is hearing corruption cases against it. The next hearing of the case is on September 26 when the family members have been summoned once again.

Similarly, the finance minister is also wanted in the same court in a separate case, which has issued warrants for his arrest for the purpose. The hearing for that case is on September 25.

The cases have been filed by the National Accountability Bureau in light of the Supreme Court's judgment in the Panama Papers case.
