LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry on Tuesday briefed Prime Minister Imran Khan on the demonstrations last week by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and the progress on crackdown against miscreants.

The PM was presented with a report after his return from official visit to China.

The TLP carried out three-day demonstrations starting Tuesday last week against Supreme Court verdict acquitting blasphemy convict Asia Bibi, which ended after an agreement with the government.

The report said that several miscreants involved in destruction of properties and disrupting peace have been arrested and cases have been filed against them, and that all resources are being utilised to nab others.

The interior ministry is in contact with all institutions and provincial governments for help in identifying and nabbing suspects.

The Federal Investigation Agency and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority are tracking down and reviewing video clips on social media to identify miscreants.

The Interior Ministry earlier today said that approximately 1800 people have been arrested for arson, vandalism and torture of ordinary citizens and law enforcement agencies officials.
