Martyred SP Dawar's heirs meet PM, assured all possible assistance

ISLAMABAD: The family of martyred SP Tahir Khan Dawar on Monday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan, where they were assured of all possible assistance by the premier.
SP Dawar, who went missing from Islamabad on October 26, was found dead in Afghanistan's Nangarhar province last week. He was laid to rest in Peshawar late Thursday after Afghan officials handed over his mortal remains to a Pakistani delegation at the Torkham border.
During the meeting, PM Khan prayed for the heightening of the stages of martyred police officer in the hereafter. The premier extended his heartfelt condolences to the martyr's family.
"SP Dawar was a valiant and dutiful officer," Khan said. "His sense of duty and bravery are a symbol of pride for KP police department."
The prime minister said SP Dawar's martydom deprived them of a competent officer.
Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi, special aide to PM Iftikhar Durrani and KP Inspector General Salahuddin Mehsud were also present at the meeting.
Last week, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) approved compensation for the heirs of martyred police officer.
"Tahir Dawar's heirs will be given Rs15 million under the 'Shaheed Package'," KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousufzai said in a statement issued to media. "The package includes financial compensation and a plot."
He stated that Dawar was serving as Grade-17 officer and his widow would be given salary until the time when the martyred officer was supposed to retire from service.
The statement further mentioned that one of Dawar's sons would be recruited in police as assistant sub-inspector (ASI).
A seven-member joint investigation team (JIT) formed Friday has been investigating the abduction and martyrdom of SP Dawar.
The probe team, headed by superintendent of police (SP) Investigation Islamabad, includes the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) at Islamabad's Shalimar Circle, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) from the Crime Investigation Department, one representative each from the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the investigating officer of the case.
The JIT was formed under Section 19 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) 1997 and it would complete investigation within the stipulated time period.
