Pakistan Super League trophy unveiled

KARACHI: The glittering trophy of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was unveiled at the Karachi’s National Stadium on Saturday.

Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and Peshawar Zalmi’s Darren Sammy were at the stadium for the unveiling of the trophy as their teams will fight it out tomorrow for the coveted title of champions.

Addressing a press conference after the unveiling of the trophy, Gladiators skipper Sarfaraz said that PSL five should take place in Pakistan. “The level of cricket that we have seen in Pakistan was not seen in Dubai and Sharjah.”

Speaking about making it to a third final, the 31-year-old said they will take the field with full strength on Sunday against Zalmi. He also hailed the response received by the Karachi crowd. “The Karachi crowd supported every team,” Sarfaraz said.

When asked about his team, the Quetta captain said, all his team players have been performing well. “Shane Watson alone is capable of winning matches,” he said.

He further said, for big games, teams want to bat first and put up a big score on the board. “If the top order performs well then we can easily win the match.”

On the other hand, Zalmi captain Sammy said that it did not matter where PSL was taking place, he would enjoy it anyway. “It does not matter if the league is in Pakistan or in United Arab Emirates, I always enjoying playing PSL,” Sammy said. “I enjoy the passion of the fans in Pakistan.”

Speaking about the team, the 35-year-old Windies all-rounder said, “For me the performance of the team matters more than individual performance.”

The final of the fourth edition of the PSL will take place on Sunday between three-time finalists Quetta Gladiators and PSL 2017 winners Peshawar Zalmi at Karachi’s National Stadium.
