AJK polling gets violent at some spots
ISLAMABAD: Polling for Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections continues under highly stringent security arrangements, while disturbing reports of clashes between the rival political parties at some places reaching here just after few hours of the polling that started at 8.00 A.M. in the morning, which will continue without break until 5.00 P.M.

Earlier in the morning there was hardly any rush of the voters seen, but later it gradually picked up. Complaints of late start of the polling from some places were received, while at several polling stations situations turned ugly when the activists of the rival political parties clashed and became violent. At a place called Batalian in the constituency LA-6 rival groups clashes even halted the polling. One person was wounded by firing at polling station 32 in LA-17. Polling was also stopped for sometime due to the rampage at Abbaspur and Jabar of district Poonch besides Batalian, Ranjana areas of Muzaffarabad.
Polling till filing of this report could not be started at polling stations 121 and 122 in LA-22. Muslim Conference and PPP activists coming to blows injured two at Noorgala polling station in LA-15.

Besides Azad Kashmir, Kashmiris living in the cities of Pakistan Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Vehari, Gonjranawala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Peshawar casting their votes for the respective seats in these cities.

AJK elections are being held on the 38 seats of the Legislative Assembly, while polling for three seats LA-30 Karachi Jammu-1, La-36 Karachi Kashmir valley-1 and LA-41 Abbotabad has been postponed.
